Bariatric & Metabolic Surgery Program

Bariatric & Metabolic Surgery Program

In an effort to meet the growing needs of the community, we are dedicated to the treatment of obesity which provides innovative, comprehensive and compassionate care for patients undergoing weight loss surgery. The Bariatric team at St. Mary Medical Center represents a combination of training, expertise and recognition unique and unparalleled in Bucks County.

The Bariatric & Metabolic Surgery Program at St. Mary Medical Center provides obese and morbidly obese patients with non-surgical and surgical options to help achieve their weight loss goals and improve the quality of their lives.  All patients receive a private consultation with a bariatric surgeon and undergo thorough testing. Then, based on a comprehensive evaluation, the best surgical option is clearly explained. On the day of surgery, each patient meets with the surgeon prior to the procedure. The surgeon will also talk to the family members after surgery and monitor the patient closely. All of our patients are carefully followed after surgery by the weight loss team. Our main concern is patient safety, comfort and long-lasting results.

The Bariatric & Metabolic Surgery Program uniquely provides patients with:

  • A 3- to 6-month preoperative multidisciplinary behavior modification program
  • A comprehensive preoperative workup for all patients
  • Monthly support group sessions for patients and their families
  • Individualized postoperative care to motivate patients in achieving their behavioral, diet, and exercise goals

We have updated our outpatient and inpatient facilities with state-of-the-art equipment to specifically care for our patients.
Surgical options offered include Laparoscopic or Open Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass, Sleeve Gastrectomy and Laparoscopic Gastric Banding.

Medical problems associated with obesity such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, sleep apnea and osteoarthritis can be improved or resolved after weight loss surgery. Talk with your primary care physician if you wish to have a consultation to begin your road to successful weight loss.
