Coumadin Clinic created for our patients taking blood thinners. We can now test your International Normalized Ratio (INR) right in the office so you no longer need to go to a separate laboratory to have your blood drawn. The clinic is offered on Fridays 7:30AM to 3:00PM and other days and times, as needed, by appointment.
Lab Collection Center for specimen collection and blood draws. Walk-ins are welcome, with no wait time, or you can schedule an appointment during our office hours. We are an authorized lab collection site for St Mary, LabCorp and Quest. The results are sent to your physician.
Metabolic Equivalents Testing (METs Test) to determine your metabolism speed and efficiency. If your physician has asked you to get a METs Test to determine if you have issues with exercise tolerance, lung function and heart disease, you can now get this test in our office. You can schedule an appointment for this test during our office hours.
Congestive Heart Failure Clinic - For patients who need specialized support with Congestive Heart Failure, this clinic is offered to reduce readmissions to the hospital. Call 215.752.9950 to enroll.
New Assisted Living Location - HeartCare Associates has also recently joined the staff of Woodbourne Place, an assisted living facility in Levittown, PA. We also see residents at Twining Village in Holland, PA.
About Roberto Carvajal, M.D.:
Born in the Philippines, Dr. Carvajal specializes in cardiology and internal medicine. He received his medical degree from the Cebu Institute of Medicine in the Philippines, graduating second in his class. Knowledge and success is a pattern for Dr. Carvajal as he was valedictorian of his high school and a Magna Cum Laude graduate in college. He had a fellowship from Albert Einstein Medical Center at Deborah Heart and Lung Center in Browns Mills, NJ. He is actively involved in the community and many years of service as a member of the board of directors of the Exchange Club of Levittown and the Bucks County YMCA. About Mrugesh Babubhai Patel, M.D., Ph.D:
Dr. Mrugesh Babubhai Patel is a graduate of Boston University and earned his medical and doctorate degrees from New York Medical College graduating with a MD and Ph.D in Physiology. Dr. Patel had fellowships in Adult Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology and special training in heart failure. He is board certified in Cardiology, Adult Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology,Interventional Cardiology and Perheral Ultrasound(RPVI).. He gained experience at the Columbia University Medical Center and Beaumont Hospitals before joining the staff of St Mary Medical Center. Dr. Patel has been in private cardiology practice since 1991. He is an avid researcher and publisher, having written several dozens of papers, book chapters and medical abstracts on his research. He was the Director of the Cardiac Cath Lab at Lower Bucks Hospital in Bristol, PA, for four years, and in 2014 became the Director of the Cardiac Cath Lab at Nazareth Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Patel has a "Five Star" rating from Healthgrades because his patients would recommend him to their friends and family.
About Rajnikant Shah, M.D., MBA:
Dr. Rajnikant Shah received his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from MS University of Baroda in 1968. He has been in practice for more than 45 years. His specialty is in Clinical Cardiology and he has a special interest in information management systems.Dr Shah is board certified in Echocardiology, Adult Cardiovascular Disease, Nuclear Cardiology, Internal Medicine, and Cardiac CT. He is an associate professor of medical studies at Philadelphia College of Osteopathy(PCOM) and an associate professor of clinical medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine, both in Philadelphia, PA. He worked at the Univeristy of Pennsylvania in Internal Medicine and Cardiology from 1971 to 1975. Dr. Shah has served on many executive commitees and was the founding member of HeartCare Associates. He joined St Mary Medical Center in 1975 as the Chief of Cardiology from 1975 to 1997 and brought many innovations including the exercise stress test and treadmill test in 1975, the echo lab in 1979, Nuclear Cardiology in 1980, the Cardiac Cath Lab in 1992 and open heart surgery in 1994. Most recently in 2012 Dr Shah pioneered the first telemedicine system in America, Smart Care Doc, He has over 20 clinical research studies and published papers. Dr Shah has spent numerous hours in community service, which include, seminars on heart disease and its prevention to senior citizen organizations, the Bucks County Peace Center, and volunteers for Homeless Inc. He is a caring and compassionate physician.
