The St. Mary Regional Cancer Center provides chemotherapy as an outpatient procedure for patients who have an order from a physician on staff at St. Mary. Treatments are done in the infusion room inside the cancer center. The Outpatient Chemotherapy Department is staffed by registered nurses who are chemotherapy certified and are members of the Intravenous (IV) Team.
Chemotherapy for inpatients is provided on the Oncology Unit at St. Mary.
In addition to chemotherapy, IV treatments and blood transfusions are performed in the infusion room. These include:
IV Treatments:
- Antibiotics
- Immunoglobulin
- Iron infusions
- Remicade to treat rhuematoid arthritis and Chrohn's disease
- Aredia infusions for osteoporosis
