St. Mary Children's Health Center provides primary healthcare services for children newborn to age 18. This includes well visits, sick visits, and follow-up care.
Services families receive-whether insured or uninsured---at the Children's Health Center are:
- Preventive and primary health care for children from birth to 18 years of age;
- Hearing and vision screenings;
- Hospitalization and routine laboratory tests;
- Referrals to WIC (Women, Infants and Children) through the Department of Health.
The St. Mary Children's Health Center nurses screen new mothers for postpartum depression from the time their babies are born until their 12-month well-baby visits.
In order to provide a continuum of care, St. Mary donates office space to WIC, a federally funded program that provides supplemental food vouchers as well as nutrition guidance and education to parents of children up to age 5. Additionally, our financial counselor assists individuals with applications for Medical Assistance, the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and many other types of financial assistance.
Parents have access to all of the services provided at the St. Mary Family Resource Center, which include parenting classes and the Wellness Center, and when needed, referrals to the Family Health Promotion Center where they can access health care at BCHIP (Bucks County Health Improvement Partnership Adult Clinic). Health maintenance or well-child visits are routinely done at the following ages: newborn, 1 month, 2, 4, 6, 9, 12, 18, and 24 months; 3, 4, 5 years; then annually up to 18 years of age.
Health maintenance visits typically consist of a comprehensive physical and developmental exam, including vision and hearing screenings, and routine laboratory testing. Well-baby visits include physical and developmental exams, screenings and immunizations.
