X-rays for a specific body part, such as an arm, spine, leg, chest, head or hand, can usually be done "on demand" — with a physician’s order. It is not necessary to schedule an appointment time. Please bring the physician's order and your insurance information. These x-rays are done in the Medical Imaging (Radiology) Department. Patients must first register at the Registration West Desk in the lobby of the Main Hospital. The best times for these "walk-in" X-rays are after the morning scheduled procedures.
If an immediate reading is requested for your study, or if your X-ray result is abnormal, a preliminary report will be faxed or telephoned to the ordering Physician at the time that it is interpreted by the Radiologist.
All other routine reports are sent to the ordering Physician after they are transcribed. St. Mary radiologists use PowerScribe automated transciption to facilitate this reporting process.
Radiologists are available for consultation with your physicians regarding X-ray studies at all times.
