Outpatient Surgery

The Surgical Center for outpatient or ambulatory surgery is located on the ground floor of the Outpatient Care Facility. Patients may be dropped off and picked up at the convenient entrance in the circular driveway before the parking garage near the back of the St. Mary campus.

  Outpatient Care Facility

Surgical Center patients may use the convenient Outpatient Care Facility entrance in the circular driveway near the back of the St. Mary campus.

Complimentary parking is available in the parking garage adjacent to the Outpatient Care Facility. Free valet parking is available Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the front main hospital entrance.

While you are in the operating room (OR) and Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), family and friends can wait in the Surgical Center waiting room area. From the PACU, you will be taken to the postoperative area, or if you are to stay overnight, to your hospital room. One visitor is permitted in the Surgical Center with you prior to and after surgery. Children under 8 are not allowed to visit in the Surgical Center. Patients under 18 may have two adult family members, and a parent or legal guardian must remain in the Surgical Center during the procedure.

You must have someone to drive you home after surgery. It also is recommended that someone stay with you after surgery for at least 24 hours. Please be sure to make these arrangements before your surgery.

Patients will receive a pre-operative phone call between 3:30 and 8 p.m. before the day of their scheduled procedure with information about their arrival time. At this time, the nurse will ask questions about your medical history and instruct you as to which of your medications you should take before surgery. You may also ask any questions you have about the procedure at this time.

For more information, please call the Surgical Center at 215-710-6010.
