For Patients
| St. Mary Medical Center is a healing ministry that respects the
dignity of human life, without regard to race, color, national origin,
religious creed, or the ability to pay. This commitment applies
to our admission policy, as well as access to our facility and
services.
We are committed to providing the highest level of
care to all in our community. St. Mary employs professionally trained, highly skilled RNs, LPNs and
nurses’ aides, who provide quality, compassionate care. A nurse
manager is responsible for coordinating care at each patient-care
unit.

For patient convenience, a private telephone is available at each bedside,
with the exception of the Intensive Care (ICU) and Cardiac Care (CCU)
units. Contact Patient Information at 215-710-2098 to request a patient
phone number.
“Because We Care” is a patient advocacy program at St. Mary that provides patients and family members access to the Patient Advocate who can help them in the event of concerns about services or patient care. Patients or family members may dial “CARE” (2273) or 215-710-2273 to speak with the Patient Advocate. The “Because We Care” program is consistent with our holistic commitment to patient respect and dignity.
The Access Department makes arrangements for a hospital stay when a physician recommends an elective procedure or admission to St. Mary Medical Center. The Access Department can pre-register a stay, verify hospital benefits with insurance plans, and check on authorization requests. Access also may schedule pre-admission testing, which often includes a medical history, physical exam, patient education and nursing assessments, and interviews with anesthesiologists for surgical cases. These evaluations assure a quality healthcare experience.
To promote a healthful environment, St. Mary Medical Center is a smoke-free campus. Smoking by visitors, physicians, colleagues and volunteers is prohibited in any area of the hospital campus or parking lots.
Flowers and mail sent to patients are delivered as
quickly as possible. Our Beehive Gift Shop also can make
deliveries to inpatients. Any mail received at the medical center after a patient is
discharged will be forwarded to the patient’s home address.
Our dedicated Social Work staff can assist you and your family in planning for post-hospital care. Our social workers can assist with referrals to rehabilitation services and to extended care facilities, such as nursing homes and personal care homes, as well as to in-home services. Their extensive knowledge of available community resources may aid in solving your
particular concern.
St. Mary Medical Center does not discriminate on the
basis of disability in admission, access, treatment or employment. Every
effort will be made to provide reasonable accommodations as well as auxiliary
aids and services, for our disabled patients. Please make your needs known
so that we can work with you to make your stay as easy and convenient as
possible.
