St. Mary Medical Center Foundation Offers Byers’ Choice Figurines to Benefit St. Mary Children’s Health Center
Fundraiser features customized collectibles in St. Mary scrubs.

LANGHORNE, Pa., October 28, 2009 – The St. Mary Medical Center Foundation is selling a limited-edition of Byers’ Choice figurines to benefit the St. Mary Children’s Health Center in Bensalem. The customized collectibles feature boy and girl caregivers adorned in St. Mary scrubs. Proceeds from the sale of the figurines will help support healthcare services provided for nearly 2,500 children from low-income families who are cared for at the health center.

St. Mary Children’s Health Center provides primary and preventive healthcare services for children newborn to age 18, including health maintenance visits as well as sick visits. The Children’s Health Center is part of the St. Mary Community Ministries in Bensalem, which also includes the Mother Bachmann Maternity Center providing quality maternity care and the Family Resource Center providing support in literacy training, employment, housing, and wellness education to a diverse, underserved population. The sale of these figurines is among efforts of the St. Mary Foundation to support continued access to care for needy families.

The figurines were crafted in honor of doctors, nurses, and caregivers and are sold for $75 each, plus shipping and handling. Standing 11 inches tall, both the boy (with bandaged teddy bear) and girl (with colorful growth chart) dolls are available wearing St. Mary scrubs and carrying an antique stethoscope. Byers’ Choice LTD., in Chalfont, Pennsylvania, creates unique hand-crafted carolers designed to capture the warmth and spirit of Christmas. The widely popular figurines are sold in gift shops throughout the world.

“We are very pleased to be working with Byers’ Choice, which has a commendable history of giving back to the community, in offering this limited-edition figurine in support of St. Mary’s mission to provide healthcare services to children,” says Sharon Beales, Vice President, St. Mary Foundation. “People will enjoy these delightful figurines unique to St. Mary for years to come and they can feel good in knowing that their purchase benefits our community.”
