St. Mary Introduces New OB/GYN Partners
Drs. Cleary, DeFilippis, Halpern, and O’Malley open a group practice in Langhorne.

LANGHORNE, Pa., June 4, 2008 – St. Mary Medical Center announced that it is teaming with Women’s Health Associates of Bucks County to provide a complete range of obstetric services for women and families across southeastern Pennsylvania.

“We are truly excited to announce this partnership,” states Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Medical Affairs Dr. Joseph Conroy. “These dedicated physicians bring more than 80 years of combined experience in obstetrics, gynecology, gynecological surgery, colposcopy, and laparoscopy to St. Mary.” Members of the newly formed practice include Stephen Cleary, MD; David DeFilippis, MD; Lee Stacy Halpern, MD; and Thomas O’Malley Jr., MD.

Dr. Stephen Cleary received his medical degree from the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, and completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Medical College of Pennsylvania, where he also received a Residents Teaching Award. Board certified by the American Board of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Dr. Cleary is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American Medical Association, and a Fellow of the American College of Gynecologists. Cleary lives in Philadelphia.

Dr. David DeFilippis received his medical degree from Georgetown University Medical School in Washington, D.C. He completed his post graduate training at the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, DeFilippis also is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He has served on the Georgetown University Medical School Admission Committee and as a member of the Thomas Jefferson University Perinatal Collaborative Research Committee. He received awards for Outstanding Clinical Instructor in obstetrics and gynecology from Drexel University School of Medicine for the past two years, as well as for Outstanding Teaching in a Clinical Setting for Junior and Senior Medical Students and the Elizabeth Labovitz Award for Excellence in Clinical Teaching from the Medical College of Pennsylvania. He also has served in numerous hospital administrative positions, including former Chairman of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Frankford Hospitals, and as a member of the Outpatient Board of Directors at Holy Redeemer Hospital. Dr. DeFilippis lives in Richboro, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Lee Stacy Halpern received a medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia and completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. Board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Halpern is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Dr. Halpern resides in Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania.

DeFilippis, Cleary and Halpern formerly served on staff at Holy Redeemer Health System.

Dr. Thomas O’Malley Jr., also of Huntingdon Valley, completed a bachelor of science from the University of Notre Dame and received a medicine degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. He completed his residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. O’Malley has been honored as the Outstanding Resident in Gynecology Endoscopy by the American Association of Gynecology Laparoscopists. He is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Previously, Dr. O’Malley was a commissioned officer with the US Public Health Corp and also served on staff at Abington Memorial Hospital. He is a member of the Philadelphia Obstetrical Society. “We are excited to be part of the fine team of physicians at St. Mary” says O’Malley. “Our specialists provide a full range of OB/GYN services from annual exams to pregnancy care to menopause management.”

The practice currently has two convenient office locations – Suite 408 in the Medical Office Building on the St. Mary Campus in Langhorne, and at 7 Upper Holland Road in Richboro. The practice will move to a spacious suite in the new St. Clare Medical Building on the St. Mary campus in summer 2008. With a focus on family centered care, Women’s Health Associates of Bucks County specializes in high-risk maternity care, minimally invasive gynecological techniques and menopause services.
