 Bucks County SAFE Kids Coalition

 2010 SAFE Kids
Summer Newsletter

Bucks County SAFE Kids is a county-based coalition dedicated to the prevention of childhood injuries among youth within the county.  The coalition is under the umbrella of SAFE Kids Worldwide which is an international agency known for their outstanding efforts and education in the field of preventable childhood injuries.

The Bucks County Coalition was formed in 1997 and was under the guidance of the Bucks County Department of Health.  Today, St. Mary Medical Center is the sponsoring agency and works intricately with the coalition to fulfill the legacy of creating safe environments for children of all communities.

The coalition activity seeks volunteers to work along with the coalition to provide programs and education specific to the injury risk factors among county children.

Some of the programs the coalition provides include:

Child Passenger Safety:
Our CPS efforts include educating families and professionals about the need for transporting children safely within the county and on all roadways.  Additionally, the coalition actively works the Department of Health to provide child safety seats to low income and high risk families.

Home Safety:
Our efforts include working with the Department of Health to promote free home safety inspections.  During the home visits families receive a detailed evaluation of their home, and common safety issues are identified.  Families are educated on the safety issues and are provided with free home safety products.
