Ensuring Patient and Visitor Safety During Construction at St. Mary
St. Mary Medical Center is expanding our Emergency Department (ED) and Trauma Center to better serve you and our community. This construction project will be accomplished in stages to mimimize the impact on parking and traffic on the St. Mary campus for our patients, families, physicians and colleagues. The first stage is scheduled from November, 2011 through February, 2012. To ensure your safety during this time, please note the following:

About Our Emergency Department & Trauma Center Expansion
St. Mary treats an increasing number of patients in the Emergency/Trauma Department, as the needs in our community for prompt and advanced emergency care continue to increase. Similar increases in pediatric volumes have necessitated the expansion of our dedicated Pediatric Emergency Care Center.
The expansion of pediatric emergency care is supported by a $2 million grant from the Bristol–Myers Squibb Company Foundation to help fund the Bristol– Myers Squibb Pediatric Emergency Care Center at St. Mary Medical Center. The new Pediatric Emergency Care Center will feature a specially equipped pediatric resuscitation room, easy ambulance-entrance access, and distinct sick-kids and well-kids reception areas.
The new Emergency Department will be designed to enhance the experience of care received at St. Mary while improving processes to deliver faster care decisions and treatment.
A new entrance for ambulances will provide convenient access to trauma bays and urgent care for adult and pediatric patients. St. Mary has the only state-accredited Regional Trauma Center in Bucks County.
The last expansion of the St. Mary Emergency Department was completed in January 2006. Our Pediatric Emergency Care Center was opened at that time to become the first and only emergency department in Bucks County providing a specialized unit for children. The 2006 expansion also included a patient reception area and a new parking garage with allocated space for emergency patients and visitors.
