Vestibular Therapy

What is Vestibular Therapy?
Vestibular Rehabilitation and Balance Therapy is an exercise-based treatment approach to facilitate central nervous system processes, to compensate for inner ear deficits which result in dizziness and/or imbalance. This therapy is conducted by certified vestibular therapists.
Signs and symptoms of Vestibular issues could include but are not limited to:
- Chronic dizziness
- Sudden onset of dizziness
- Dizziness with changes in position, turning head, rolling over in bed
- Increased dizziness or disorientation in busy environments
- Motion Sensitivity
- Sensation that stable objects are moving
- Difficulty stabilizing gaze or maintaining visual focus
- Loss of balance with head turns when walking
Diagnoses that could benefit from Vestibular Therapy:
- Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV)
- Stroke, Transient Ischemic Attack, Traumatic Brain Injury, and other Central Insults
- Acute Unilateral Peripheral or Central Insult
- Unilateral or Bilateral Vestibular Hypofunction
- Meniere’s Disease
- Acoustic Neuroma
- Cervicogenic Dizziness
- Vestibular Neuronitis/Labrynthitis
- Vertiginous Migraines
- Unilateral or Bilateral Vestibular Loss
- Status Post any Vestibular or Inner Ear Surgery
- Post Concussive Syndrome
