| Presented by the American Alliance of Healthcare Providers, the award recognizes the most consumer-friendly hospitals throughout the United States.
LANGHORNE, Pa., November 12, 2008 – St. Mary Medical Center today announced that it has been recognized with the Hospital of Choice Award by the American Alliance of Healthcare Providers (AAHCP). One of just 16 award recipients from across the United States to achieve this distinction in the 2008 fall quarter, St. Mary is being recognized among the nation’s most consumer-friendly hospitals. The award, designed to help consumers make educated decisions about the quality of their healthcare, highlights St. Mary’s commitment to compassionate care.
Headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, AAHCP was founded in 1992 by a group of 32 practitioners and healthcare managers. The AAHCP was established to find practical, effective, and efficient ways to improve patient care in the American healthcare system. The AAHCP’s Hospital of Choice Awards are specifically designed to recognize hospitals that have a proven track record in successfully meeting or exceeding the expectations of their patients and have earned the respect and admiration of the physicians who refer their clients.
Each quarter, the AAHCP staff reviews the customer-service processes of up to 100 hospitals based on criteria such as staff development, code of conduct, and service, and selects approximately 25 percent to receive the award. Any state-licensed medical facility that has passed a preliminary screening process may request to apply for this award.
St. Mary Medical Center President and CEO Greg Wozniak says, “We are honored to be the only hospital in the region to earn this distinction for our service and commitment to patients.” He continues, “Our commitment to quality care sets us apart and it is our dedicated team of physicians, nurses, and staff that makes St. Mary a leader in our region.”
In addition to this Hospital of Choice Award, St. Mary was a previously named one of Solucient’s 100 Top Hospitals® in the nation. St. Mary has also been recognized as “Best in Bucks” by the Bucks County Courier Times in both the overall hospital and emergency department categories for the past 14 years in a row.
