KidShape 2.0

KidShape 2.0

The St. Mary KidShape 2.0 program is a fun-filled, eight-week program that helps children 6 - 12 years old and their families live a healthier lifestyle.

At least one parent or guardian is required to attend each class with the child and family participation is encouraged. Families meet once a week with the other children and their parents or guardians in the KidShape2.0 program. Each class is filled with kids and adults who are concerned about their health just as you are.

A great bonus of the program is the students often become friendly with each other and lend support as they learn healthier habits.

  • Each class has up to 20 students and their parents or guardians
  • Classes meet once a week for two hours and fifteen minutes
  • Each class is divided into three 40-minute segments

Each class is divided into three major sessions:

  • Nutrition - a registered dietitian teaches adults and kids well-balanced eating habits to live a healthier lifestyle.
  • Physical Activity - the children participate in about 30 continuous minutes of fun, aerobic exercise. During two of the weeks, the adults exercise with the students. Ten minutes of family fun is promoted each week.
  • Supportive Activity - adults and children meet separately to discuss how to change old habits and support each other during their healthy lifestyle changes.

We partner with area school districts to implement the program at sites throughout the county. KidShape2.0 gives parents the resources they need to assist their children to develop healthier lifestyles that benefit the entire family. Students must be in the 85th percentile or higher for their BMI (body mass index).

A $50 registration fee for materials is required; scholarships are available.
