Faithful to the legacy of Mother Francis Bachmann and the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia, and being a part of a Catholic healthcare system, our ministry is rooted in fidelity to the Gospels and the teachings of Christ, but always in a holistic and ecumenical environment.
There is one fundamental commandment for a Catholic hospital: all life, from conception to the moment of natural death, is profoundly sacred. Therefore, all life must be treated with awe, respect, and dignity.
Although St. Mary is a Catholic Hospital, bound by the religious and ethical direction of the Catholic Church, and guided by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops' Ethics and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services, we serve and embrace all patients no matter what their creed or beliefs. We are sensitive to the cultural diversity of our community and treat everyone who comes to us with reverence and compassion.
When requested by a patient, we contact local congregations so that the needs of all faith groups are addressed.
Our Spiritual Care Department brings God's presence and healing ministry to patients and families when we are invited, and we approach each encounter not as problem solvers, but to journey with another-to listen, share, and be a source of strength and a minister to healing.
